ENGINE TEST CELLS

Old Engine Development.JPG

DYNAMOMETER TEST CELLS

EMS has 10 fully instrumented engine test cells with dynamometers ranging in capacity from less than 50 hp to 3000 hp. Exhaust emissions can be measured in all test cells per 40 CFR 1065. Most of our cells have flexible configuration using interchangeable dyno skids to adjust horsepower capacity to fit your needs.

TRANSIENT TEST CELLS

Eight out of ten test cells feature transient test capability. All current test cycles are met through the use of EMS-proprietary test cell control algorithms and EMS's Digital Dynamometer Drive (D3), coupled with low inertia dynos and/or auxiliary AC motors.

HIGH HORSEPOWER TEST CELL

This test cell is equipped with a 3000 horsepower dyno and increased cooling capability in order to accommodate engines up to 2 MW.

LARGE SPARK IGNITION (LSI) TEST CELLS

Several of our dedicated transient test cells are configured to host LSI engines and have capacities in the 175-600 horsepower range.

HEAVY DUTY DIESEL AND GAS ENGINES

Three of our test cells are set up for testing diesel and gas engines and are equipped for both gaseous and particulate emissions measurements that conform to 40 CFR 1065.

MARINE ENGINES

Two of the test cells can be configured to test high speed marine engines with wet exhausts. Engines up to 670 horsepower can be accommodated.
